I’m a big fan of scissors. I have always loved them, even as a small child. They are my favourite item of stationery equipment, and to my mind cutting paper with a new pair of scissors is akin to the spoon-in-the-instant-coffee-seal pleasure.
I also use them a lot in my classes. Each book I use, whether it is my paper diary, a homework book or reading diary, has the top or bottom corner cut at an angle. This allows me to open the book to the relevant page in a fraction of the time I would normally spend searching through a book for the leatest page.
It isn’t revolutionary, or even particularly clever, but it works really well, and saves me time.
What things do you do in your classroom that shave fractions of a second off an otherwise mundane activity? Please let me know!
